In 2017 we supplied some Cableflor to the renowned Scott Fleary Production company who were building a temporary TV studio out in Seoul for the 2018 Winter Olympics – it was a quick and easy solution to manage all of their cables and maximise usable studio space.
Whilst the event was on, Sky TV saw our floor system and got in touch later in the year to discuss supplying a floor for their mobile TV studios that cover the Premiership Football games at the weekends.
They had an existing AR studio that used a heavy steel deck, that in most football grounds was too high for the room – they were after a lighter, quicker floor system that would maximise the ceiling height.
The actual AR set was made from timber panels, so we suggested using a modular system that would give a precision finish every time it went in, as it saves a lot of time on the AR set up. To improve it further we could supply our Cableflor with all of the camera positions printed directly to it, so they could pin-point exactly where to go.
Working with the Vehicle Technology team at Sky we developed a complete unit, including monitor brackets, LED highlights and most importantly Chroma Key fabric stretched into the frame. After building the prototype at Sky’s premises in Brentford, the AR programmers then got to work, calculating positions on our floor which were then printed onto white Cableflor.
We installed the first live set and showed their installers how it fitted together – our solution resulted in smaller transport and a quicker install with fewer crew, than their previous custom built solution.
“Cableflor’s hands on approach and willingness to problem solve on an extremely tight deadline enabled us to produce a quality product with the resilience to be transported around the UK in a very demanding environment. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with Cableflor on future projects.”
